Tony Abreu

Why AGM Rattler

The AGM Rattler Thermal Rifle Scope is one of the hottest selling thermal rifle scopes in the night hunting space.  It is a powerful, compact, lightweight unit that can be used as a thermal rifle scope as well as a handheld monocular.  The Rattler is the most value priced unit in each of the resolution classes while all the units carry the same features.

3 Resolutions - 3 Price Ranges

The AGM Rattler thermals unit comes in 3 different resolutions:

  • A 256x192 resolution sensor
  • A 384x288 resolution sensor
  • A 640x512 resolution sensor

256 Resolution

Rattler 256 Thermal Rifle Scopes are the lowest priced options in the Rattler line and have 2 units to choose from:

The TS19-256 can be purchased for around $1000 and can detect heat out to 950 yards. It has a 2.5X optical base zoom and can zoom digitally to 20X. Keep in mind that digital zoom gets pixelated really fast on the lower resolution units.

The TS25-384 can be purchased for around $1200 and can detect heat out to 1250 yards.  It has a 3X optical base zoom and can zoom digitally to 24X.  Again, digital zoom gets pixelated really fast on the lower resolution units

384 Resolution

Rattler 384 Thermal Rifle Scopes are the middle priced option in the Rattler line and have 2 units to choose from:

The TS25-384 can be purchased for around $2000 and can detect heat out to 1250 yards. It has a super wide field of view with a 1.5X optical base zoom and can zoom digitally to 12X.  This mid resolution gives you a little better zoom clarity at 2X than the 256, but starts to get pixelated at the 4X and 8X zooms.

The TS35-384 can be purchased for around $2500 and can detect heat out to 1750 yards. It has a wide field of view with a 2X optical base zoom and can zoom digitally to 16X.  This mid resolution gives you a little better zoom clarity at 2X than the 256, but starts to get pixelated at the 4X and 8X zooms.

640 Resolution

Rattler 640 Thermal Rifle Scopes are the middle priced option in the Rattler line and have 2 units to choose from:

The TS35-640 can be purchased for around $3500 and can detect heat out to 1750 yards. It has a nice wide field of view with a 2X optical base zoom and can zoom digitally to 16X.  This high resolution gives you a great zoom clarity at 2X and 4X. The 8X zoom on the 640 unit is pixelated, but still very usable in longer distance shooting conditions.

The TS50-640 can be purchased for around $4000 and can detect heat out to 2500 yards. It has a smaller field of view with a 2.5X optical base zoom and can zoom digitally to 20X.  This high resolution gives you the best in class zoom clarity at 2X, 4X, and 8X. The 8X zoom starts to get pixelated , but again is very usable with target acquisition at longer distances.
